Heart and Stroke Foundation
What Heart and Stroke is doing to minimize the risk:
  • For providers with certificates expiring between March 2020 through May 2020, Heart & Stroke provided a renewal grace period until July 31, 2020. Please note timelines may be extended based on the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Heart & Stroke has made learning resources available to providers until they can renew their certifications:

  • BLS Blended course components are available online and providers can review them.

  • ACLS and PALS courses have pre-course assessments and a resources section on the Resuscitation Portal that providers can review online.

What Life Safe is doing to minimize the risk:
UPDATED Jan 13th 2022.
  • Life Safe is following the provincial Health orders which can be found by following the link below: COVID-19 Provincial Health Guidelines

  • Each participant must complete the COVID-19 pre-course self assessment.

  • All of our instructors and staff are fully vaccinated (minimum two doses)

  • All Heart and Stroke Courses are considered essential, therefore there we will NOT be checking for proof of vaccine.

  • Instructors will be decontaminating the mannequins after each course participants use with an alcohol-based solution.

  • Students are encouraged to bring their own mask, as it must be worn for the duration of the course. Gloves will be provided during practice.

  • Face shields should not be used, and direct mouth-to-mannequin ventilations will not be practiced.

  • Bag-valve masks (BVMs) will be used when practicing two-rescuer skills.  Mannequins will be spaced at least 1-2 meter (3-6 feet) apart during training for social distancing.

  • Instructors and participants must wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after the course, before and after snack or meal breaks during instruction, and after any absence from the classroom.

  • These additional precautions should be practiced until further notice from Heart & Stroke.

As always, please take actions in your classrooms to help prevent disease and protect your health:
    •    Practice good hygiene, including handwashing as directed above.
    •    Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth, especially with unwashed hands.
    •    Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    •    Cough and sneeze into your sleeve and not your hands.
    •    Stay home if you are sick to avoid spreading illness to others.
