Course Breakdown:
What's in the Online Modules?
Participants receive access to self-paced online modules (approx. 2 hrs) and a dental BLS textbook (PDF) that helps participants learn the core BLS concepts. Online modules cover:
- ILCOR Guidelines: Science Review
- Six Links of the Chain of Survival: The updated 2025 guidelines emphasize the 6th link: Recovery.
- Primary Assessment: Rapid identification of cardiac arrest (simultaneous breathing and pulse check in <10 seconds).
- Adult, child, and infant BLS overview.
- AED integration: Immediate use of the Automated External Defibrillator as soon as it's available.
- Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM) Training: Two-rescuer BVM technique to ensure a proper seal, including oxygen integration.
- Choking (FBAO): Management of conscious and unconscious foreign body airway obstructions for adult, child, and infant.
What happens during the hands-on portion of the course?
- Overview of BLS Online components and review of systematic approach.
- BLS algorithm review
Hands-on Components Include:
- CPR practice with the latest "qCPR" technology
Airway Management including:
- Hands on training with the Bag-Valve-Mask and oxygen integration.
